Summary
Key member of the executive team, leading all aspects associated with the finance function for all ALS businesses in the CW Europe region (excl. Nuvisan operations) Expected to keep leading finance transformation process, including implementation of financial processes and controls, future roll-out of a new ERP in the region to be deployed by ALS, enhancing current financial team qualities to support the business. The RFC is also a key partner to business leaders, supporting them in the understanding and measurement of business drivers through monthly P&L reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, KPI implementation, and in the preparation of financial analysis and planning (budget, forecasts and strategic planning). Lead a team of 10+ employees.
Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic finance partner to local business leaders, the Integration Director, Group Financial Controller, Group Treasury, and Group CFO by providing proactive financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and by supporting the implementation and tracking of strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis process within the Central Western European region, including annual budgets, forecasts, and multi-year strategic plans.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the region, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in line with group standards.
  • Manage the full scope of finance operations, including Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Tax, with a strong focus on strengthening internal controls and improving financial procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes for assigned business units.
  • Manage external audit processes in coordination with group requirements and act as the primary contact for external auditors.
  • Drive credit and collections management to optimize working capital and improve cash generation across the region.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international financial reporting and tax obligations.
  • Oversee the management and continuous improvement of financial systems, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with global standards.
  • Support cash flow management activities, including the organization and execution of cash repatriation processes.
  • Supervise internal audit procedures and contribute to risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as required to support regional and global finance initiatives.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a recognized professional accounting accreditation (e.g. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Over 15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting within high-volume industrial or business services environments, including at least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in leading ERP implementation projects, acting as functional or finance lead, with strong involvement in systems integration and process redesign.
  • Extensive experience in change management within finance-related projects, including the design, definition, and implementation of financial processes and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, highly demanding, and matrixed environments, managing cross-functional teams and multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with deep understanding of complex financial processes and the ability to drive improvements through data-driven insights.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with a strategic, structured, and hands-on approach.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, with fluency in English (written and spoken); French proficiency is considered an asset.
  • Recognized for inspirational leadership and a strong commitment to team development, fostering collaboration, performance, and accountability.

In addition to core financial leadership responsibilities, the role includes active involvement in Quality and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) matters.

  • Ensure that all business activities are conducted ethically, professionally, and in alignment with the company’s cultural and operational standards.
  • Ensure adherence to established Quality Systems in the performance, review, and reporting of laboratory and financial duties, and proactively communicate any quality-related issues.
  • Actively support the Quality Department and contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by promoting effective communication, with a focus on enhancing both the employee and client experience at ALS.
  • Comply with all company procedures, policies, standards, and training requirements to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the site.
  • Actively contribute to a zero-injury work environment by identifying, reporting, and addressing unsafe behaviors or conditions observed during daily operations.
  • Support and participate in HSE initiatives as directed by ALS leadership, promoting a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of employees, contractors, and visitors by ensuring the provision of adequate leadership, training, resources, and enforcement of safety protocols onsite.
