About the Role

We’re looking for a Functional Safety Specialist to support our growing certification and verification projects in the process industry. This flexible contracting opportunity is ideal for professionals with proven experience in IEC 61511 who are available part-time or full-time.
You’ll be responsible for verifying Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs), reviewing technical documentation, conducting compliance assessments, and delivering results in coordination with both clients and internal project managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify SRS, hardware/software designs, reliability calculations, and test documentation
• Document verification findings with full traceability and alignment with IEC 61511
• Request technical clarifications and inputs from clients as needed
• Coordinate results with the project manager prior to client delivery
• Use internal tools and templates for structured documentation
• Contribute to process improvements and ensure technical excellence

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering (Technical University)
• 5+ years of experience in functional safety in the process industry
• Deep knowledge of IEC 61511 lifecycle activities, especially in verification and assessment
• Experience reading SRS, safety manuals, SIL certificates, and safety PLC logic
• Proficient in PFDavg/PFH calculations
