Early Years Teacher (EC) (m/f/d)
Your Responsibility
A qualified and experienced Early Years Educator is sought to join our distinguished academic team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in cultivating a dynamic, inquiry-driven Primary Years Programme (PYP) environment, with a central focus on designing and implementing playful, play-based learning experiences to foster holistic development in young students.
Your duties
- Select and clearly articulate instructional goals that challenge all learners according to their academic needs and communicate clearly, accurately and expressively; in ways that enrich the learning experiences
- Find ways to question learning and stimulate discussion so that learners drive the lesson and engage the students in their own learning through increasing their influence in the development of groupings and activities
- Plan coherent, structured, well paced, linked, appropriately (and differentially) pitched lessons and show an awareness of the skills, intelligences, age, culture and interests of the students
- Raise the awareness of the opportunities of intercultural engagement and understanding and plan for and clearly communicate the nature of assessment tasks that link to the instructional goals set for student learning
- Communicate to students through regular feedback and reports, based on appropriate assessments, a student’s progress such that they are constantly aware of where they are and what they need to do to improve
- Work collegially and collaboratively to facilitate the development and delivery of curriculum
- Set clear expectations for student conduct that is controlled efficiently and engenders a sense of self responsibility within the class
- Contribute to the values, field trips, extracurricular activities and developments of the school
- Continually experiment with and reflect upon new approaches and lessons as to whether they enhanced student learning
- Developing professionally within the classroom, through shared best practice, enjoying professional development from others and delivering professional development to others
- Communicate with parents appropriately through events such as Parents’ Evenings, reports and email - in accordance with the BIS Contact Guide
- Developing the use of technology as a learning tool within the classroom and as an extension of the classroom
Your profile
- Possession of a recognised Early Years Teacher qualification or appropriate academic qualifications in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- State recognition as an 'Erzieher/in' is highly desirable
- A current and valid teaching license or certification, meeting all regulatory requirements in the EU
- A minimum of two years' successful and relevant teaching experience in an early years setting, preferably within an IB PYP context, with demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating play-based learning
- A demonstrably strong, student-centred pedagogical orientation, with a clear understanding of inquiry-based and play-based learning principles
- German language proficiency at B1 level (CEFR) or higher
